In a follow up to my previous story about Maria the Echo Park Goose who was to be relocated, with all the other geese and ganders at the lake, it turns out that Maria is in fact Mario!
The now famous gander was moved to the L.A. Zoo for her own protection. You know, the price of fame. It was there that the mistake was discovered.
In any event, Mario will be quarantined at the Zoo for a month and then put on display.
Dominic, his longtime friend at Echo Park Lake, was him this week and reported that Mario did seem a little disoriented. Hopefully he will get used to his new quarters and new friends.
Meanwhile the draining of Echo Park Lake will take 2 years and cost $64.7 million.
Well I am glad Mario got a new home, and hopefully he will get to go back to the lake once it is filled again . . . If he remembers that is home!
I hope so. He might get used to the zoo by the time Echo Park Lake reopens.
Poor Mario is most confused–not only about his gender but, his home! Hopefully he’ll settle in nicely at the newly filled Echo Park Lake.
Poor Mario is going to have to wait two years 🙁
