Starting yesterday, February 3, 2012, the eastbound off ramp off the northbound 405 Freeway will be closed on and off for two weeks. The Rampture is finally here.
This is part of the ongoing widening of the 405 Freeway which will add a 10-mile HOV lanes and widen lanes from the I-10 to US 101. This particular project is to clear trees and plants from the area.
The closures will take place periodically from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. but workers will be there most of the day.
If at all possible I would advise people to find an alternative route north during rush hour. The construction makes a normal 6 minute drive on Sepulveda from Wilshire to Moraga more like a half hour, and the 404 is not much better.
In fact, of late, the Westside, west of the 405 has been an absolute nightmare during evening rush hour, even without these closures.
